Quickboost 1:72 Curtiss P-40B exhausts is a resin set of exhaust stacks for a model of the American Curtiss P-40B fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin set from the Quickboost brand of the maker Aires brings faithfully cast exhausts for a model of the American Curtiss P-40B fighter in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane model, but a detail accessory for more experienced modelers that replaces the coarser plastic parts with a crisp casting with drilled outlets.
The Curtiss P-40 was an American single-engine fighter of the Second World War, powered by a liquid-cooled V12 Allison engine. The early P-40B version served with American and Allied units and became famous among other places with the volunteers known as the Flying Tigers. The V12 cylinder layout gave the engine its characteristic rows of exhaust stacks along the sides of the forward fuselage.
The exhausts come in pairs, one on each side of the fuselage, so take care to fit them symmetrically. First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release residue from the mold is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the cut surfaces with respiratory protection. Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue, not with cement for plastic.
The set is supplied as a resin part, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an airplane model, but an accessory to a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
