A resin model of the Mk 54 aerial depth charge in 1:72 scale is an accessory store for a kit of an anti-submarine aircraft that you have already bought, not a kit in its own right.

This resin set from the Czech maker Brengun represents the American Mk 54 aerial depth charge in 1:72 scale. It is an accessory meant to be hung on a model of an anti-submarine aircraft that is already built or under construction, or to be laid in a diorama by the armament carts. The airplane model is not included in the package.
A depth charge is an anti-submarine weapon dropped from an aircraft or a helicopter that works under the surface. Unlike a conventional bomb it has no impact fuze but a depth fuze: it is initiated at a set depth. In shape it is therefore considerably simpler than an aerial bomb: a short cylindrical body with a flat base and only minimal fins, because the weapon does not have to fly far, only to fall into the water. That simplicity is a trap for a modeler: every deviation of shape on a smooth cylinder shows, and that is why a resin casting with a sharp edge on the base pays off more on this type of store than a plastic part.
Wash the casting in warm soapy water so that no mold release agent is left on it. Cut the casting block off with a saw and sand the area wet. On cylindrical bodies it works well to sand by rotating the part on abrasive paper laid on glass: the face then stays perpendicular to the axis. It is bonded with super glue, and it seats better on a pylon or in a bomb bay if you lightly sand the contact face to the shape of the carrier. Apply a primer before painting; smooth resin will not hold paint on its own.
This is an accessory set in resin, not a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
