Propeller blades are among the parts where economizing on the mold shows first – the section tends to be thick, the edges rounded and the leading edge inexact. This accessory from Aires/Quickboost offers propellers with a sharper section for the twin-engine Dornier Do 17Z, and its designation also lists the tool supplied thanks to which the blades are set at the same angle on both engines. Obtain the model of the aircraft for it separately.
The Do 17 got the nickname Flying Pencil for its slender fuselage. It came about in the middle of the 1930s and the Z form was its most distinctive shape: it received a completely reworked glazed nose with the crew grouped together and, instead of the inline engines, the radial Bramo 323 Fafnir. Its use over Poland, over France and in the Battle of Britain showed the limits of the type, because both the bomb load and the defensive armament remained modest. Even so the Do 17Z went on serving with Germany's allies.
Paint the propeller blades separately while they are easy to reach from every side, and only then seat them. It makes sense to use the tool supplied straight away, otherwise the angles on the two engines will drift apart and the finished model will look inconsistent. Tone the spinner to suit the machine you are building, because the colored bands on the spinners differed between units. For the joint reach for super glue.
