This is an add-on set, not a kit of an aircraft. The contents are a resin casting of the propeller for a model of the Grumman E-2 Hawkeye carrier-based airborne early warning aircraft in 1:72 scale. Quickboost is the add-on resin line of the Aires brand. Sets of this line always aim at a single part of a base kit, which they replace with a casting with a sharper shape and a better distribution of mass.
The E-2 Hawkeye is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft with a high-set wing, a characteristic disc radome above the fuselage and a multiple vertical tail. Its propellers are large in relation to the fuselage and in 1:72 scale they take up a considerable part of the silhouette, so their treatment markedly influences the impression a finished model makes. Injection-molded plastic runs up against a limit in this scale: a blade has to be thick enough to be released from the mold, and a parting line runs across its whole surface. A resin casting can hold a thinner section and the twist of a blade.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap because of residues of the mold release agent. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a cutting disc, sand the remainder carefully and protect your airways while doing so. It is glued with superglue; glue for plastic has no effect on resin. Apply a primer before painting. The blades of carrier aircraft tend to be flat black with tips told apart by color, but check the particular scheme against references for the machine you are building. It is a good idea to glue the propellers on right at the end of the build, so that they do not suffer during handling.
The set is an accessory, not a model of an aircraft. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
