1:72 EA-6B Prowler Canopy Mask helps with painting the extensive glazing of the four-seat cockpit of the carrier radar jammer. Intended for the Hasegawa kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A cockpit for a crew of four means a large area of glass and a lot of frames, so this phase of painting precisely decides the overall impression of a finished model. The set is intended for the Grumman EA-6B jet machine in 1:72 scale. The target kit is Hasegawa.
The EA-6B grew out of the A-6 Intruder carrier bomber, but it received a lengthened nose with four stations: a pilot and three operators of the jamming systems. Under the wing it carried ALQ-99 pods, with which it blinded enemy radars and the guidance stations of anti-aircraft systems. It entered service in the 1970s, went through operations over Iraq, the Balkans and Afghanistan and flew with the Marine Corps until 2019. Its crews had the task of opening the way for strike forces before they even reached the target.
It pays to paint a large area of glass in two stages: the dark cockpit shade first and, once it has dried, the top camouflage. Hold the airbrush square to the frame so that paint does not get under an edge, and spray rather more light coats than one heavy one. After taking the masks off, look the edges over against the light; small shortcomings can be put right with a fine brush.
The package contains the masks alone; the model of the aircraft is obtained separately.
