This is a diorama element of photo-etched brass in 1:72 scale. It is not a model of a vehicle and not a kit, and it belongs to no particular kit: it is a standalone accessory for a scene, with which you can enclose a garden, a park, a courtyard or the grounds around a building. The manufacturer offers the fence in several patterns, and this one is designated pattern 3.
A wrought-iron fence is among the typical features of European urban and suburban development, so it suits dioramas with a civilian setting as well as military scenes set in towns and villages. In 1:72 scale, though, it is the thin features such as a fence, a railing or a grille that give the scale away at once. A plastic or printed fence tends to be inevitably oversized in this scale, whereas photo-etched parts hold a thickness that matches reality.
A fence is usually built from several panels joined by posts. The surest procedure is to draw a line on the diorama base, glue the bottom edge of the first panel along it and only then add the next. To make the fence stand square, it helps to bend a small tab at the foot of a part inwards and sink it into the material of the base while it is still damp. For gluing into plaster or modeling compound, cyanoacrylate is suitable; in combination with a plastic base, rather epoxy. It is painted like any photo-etched parts: degrease, a primer for metal and then the shade. A wrought-iron fence tends to be dark, so the result is brought to life by a light touch of rust on the lower part and fine dust drawn into the corners of the posts.
The accessory is supplied unpainted, as photo-etched sheet. The base, the modeling compound, the glue and the paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
