This resin detail set brings an engine exhaust nozzle for a model of the American F-100D Super Sabre supersonic fighter-bomber in 1:72 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory with which you replace the simplified nozzle from a plastic kit. The casting faithfully captures the petals and the inner structure of the nozzle that plastic usually cannot manage.
The F-100D Super Sabre was one of the first aircraft able to exceed the speed of sound in level flight. It was powered by a single turbojet with an afterburner and served mainly as a fighter-bomber for attacks on ground targets. It belonged to the so-called Century Series, the first wave of American supersonic jets.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water and rid it of mold release agent. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Metal shades and opalescent and burnt tones will capture the metallic and heat-stressed surfaces; a final toning with pigments and a wash will give the nozzle a realistic look.
The detail set is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin part. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
