This is a resin set intended for a plastic kit of the American Republic F-105 Thunderchief fighter-bomber in 1:72 scale. The package replaces the wheels of a model with faithfully cast resin parts with a sagged tire tread and articulated hubs. Masking film is included, which makes it easy to paint the tire and the hub cleanly without laboriously cutting masks.

The real subject

The F-105 Thunderchief was a large single-seat supersonic fighter-bomber with a bulky fuselage and an internal bomb bay. Because of its weight and its long range it had a rugged landing gear, so faithfully rendered wheels contribute markedly to the overall impression of a model.

Building and usage tips

Wash the wheels to remove mold release residue and separate them from the casting blocks. Bond the cast tires with their sagged tread with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Stick the masking film onto the wheel, spray the tire and, once the mask is taken off, the hub stays cleanly bounded. Protect your airways when sanding resin.
