Supplementary exhaust grilles for the heat exchanger of the environmental control system for a model of the F-14 Tomcat in 1:72 scale. They replace these small external elements on a finished kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is an American carrier-borne fighter with variable-geometry wings and a crew of two. From the 1970s it formed the backbone of the fighter squadrons of the US Navy and it stayed in service until 2006. Its massive fuselage with a flat center section and large intake ducts make it a rewarding modeling subject on which it is worth working on the small details of the surface.
The set contains the exhaust grilles of the heat exchanger of the environmental control system for an F-14 model in 1:72 scale. These are small external elements that are substituted on the model for the parts from the box, so that they have a finer and more clearly divided structure. Which kit the parts are drawn for and how many the package contains should be checked against the manufacturer's data on the box and in the instructions.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and carefully sand the remainder back, so that the edges of the grilles stay straight. The parts are not polystyrene, plastic cement has no effect on them, so use cyanoacrylate glue in a minute amount. Before painting, wash the elements in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let them dry, so that the paint holds. The fine structure of the grilles comes out best if you apply a thin base coat and fine-tune the shadows with a thinned dark shade.
The package contains the supplementary parts stated. The kit, paints, glue and thinner are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
