This is not an aircraft kit but an add-on set cast in modeling resin. It replaces the inside of the cockpit on an F-16 model in 1:72 scale and corresponds to the form after the modernization known by the abbreviation MLU. On this type the cockpit is very clearly visible thanks to the bubble canopy, so replacing the simplified plastic part has a noticeable effect on the final impression. The casting carries finer relief of the instrument panel, the side consoles and the cockpit tub. The number of parts and the contents of the package are stated on the box.
The General Dynamics F-16 is an American single-engine multirole combat aircraft with a bubble canopy, a reclined seat and a side-mounted control stick. The abbreviation MLU stands for the life extension and modernization program that older A and B series aircraft operated by European users went through. The modernization concerned above all the avionics, the cockpit displays and the fire control systems, so it was precisely the internal equipment of the cockpit that changed compared with the original form.
Assemble and paint the cockpit before the fuselage is closed up. Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and sand the area wet with respiratory protection. Test the fit dry, as interior sets usually call for the inside of the fuselage to be adjusted slightly. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, that is, with a cyanoacrylate. Modern cockpits have a dark interior, so the detail is best brought out with a lighter dry brush and by picking out the switches. Mask the canopy and glue it on at the very end.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
