The set 1:72 F-35 (A, C) Lightning II exhaust nozzle from Reskit replaces the engine exhaust nozzle on a model of the F-35 in 1:72 scale. It is a resin accessory for a kit, not a model of the aircraft.

A replacement resin nozzle for modelers for whom the simplified plastic part in the kit is not enough. On the F-35 the nozzle is a conspicuous feature with an intricate division of its edge segments, and that is exactly what shows far better in a cast part than in injection-molded plastic. The set is intended for the A and C versions, which with this aircraft is an important distinction.
The F-35 Lightning II is a single-engine combat aircraft built in three versions. The A and C versions use the conventional arrangement with a fixed nozzle axis, whereas the B version has a completely different solution with a swiveling nozzle for short takeoff and vertical landing. The pair in the name is therefore factually right: it is precisely the A and C versions that share the nozzle, and the set does not suit the B version.
Wash the part in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap, cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw and wet-sand the surface. Apply a primer before painting. The nozzle calls for metallic shades and heat discoloration transitions; a combination of a dark base, fine metallic tints and a thin wash into the seams between the segments works well. Darken the inside of the nozzle so that it does not look flat. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), and before gluing always try the part dry to see whether it fits the tail of the fuselage.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, which it does not replace. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
