The set of turned metal parts MASTER 1:72 F6F Hellcat, night fighter armament holds .50 Browning machine gun barrels and 20 mm cannon muzzles with flash hiders and replaces the plastic parts of the model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal detail set, not an aircraft model. It holds the barrels of the .50 Browning machine guns and the muzzles of the 20 mm cannon with flash hiders that the night versions of the Hellcat carried. They replace the plastic parts on a model in 1:72 scale.
The night fighter versions of the Hellcat (F6F-3N and F6F-5N) added a radar in a pod on the wing, and some of them had mixed armament: two 20 mm cannon replaced the inner pair of .50 caliber machine guns. Flash hiders on the muzzles kept the pilot from being dazzled when firing at night and are a typical recognition detail of this armament. The combination of barrels of two different calibers makes a model of a night Hellcat a striking and less usual piece.
Cut the plastic barrels off and replace them with the metal parts. Glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate) onto degreased surfaces. Metal keeps precise geometry and a sharp muzzle even with the small flash hiders. Before painting, coat the metal with a base color (primer) for better adhesion and take care over the correct spacing of the machine guns and cannon in the wing.
This is not a complete model. The set holds no glue, no paints and no kit.
