An accessory, not a model, for aircraft models of the single-seat McDonnell Douglas F/A-18C Hornet in 1:72 scale. The canopy is drawn from thin transparent film by vacuum forming, which gives it more delicate walls and higher clarity than the injection-molded part from the box. The package usually holds several pieces, for a choice of open and closed position or as a spare.
The F/A-18 Hornet is an American carrier-based multirole combat aircraft able to fly fighter and attack missions alike. The C version is single-seat and formed the backbone of both the carrier air wings and the Marine Corps. The large frameless cockpit canopy gives the pilot an excellent all-round view, and on a model that stands out precisely with a thin clear canopy.
Cut the canopy out with a sharp scalpel close to the outline and sand the edges finely. For maximum gloss the part can be dipped in a gloss varnish. It is glued with clear PVA glue, or very carefully with cyanoacrylate so that the fumes do not dull the plastic. The frame and the windscreen are masked and sprayed at the end.
This is an accessory, not an aircraft model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
