A precise turned metal accessory for a model of the Fairchild-Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft in 1:72 scale. The set replaces the plastic muzzle of the seven-barrel GAU-8 Avenger rotary cannon and the plastic Pitot tube with fine metal parts. This is not an aircraft model but a detail replacement part. Photo-etched collars for a convincing rendering of the barrel cluster are usually included as well.
The metal parts have a sharp muzzle true to its axis, without mold seams, and a fine bore that plastic cannot reach. The Pitot tube is straight, slim and more resistant to bending. The characteristic muzzle of the cannon thus gets the realistic look that is one of the most conspicuous features of the A-10.
Cut off the plastic muzzle and tube, drill holes into the remaining parts and glue the metal parts in with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Fit the photo-etched collars onto the barrel cluster if you wish.
This is an add-on detail set, not a complete kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
