A short-run kit of the Italian fighter Fiat G.50 Freccia in 1:72 scale from the production of the manufacturer AML. It is a kit of short-run character, which usually combines injected plastic with accessories, typically resin parts, photo-etched components and vacuum-formed glazing, and it is meant rather for more experienced modelers. The package offers a decal sheet with several marking options. Check the exact content of the package and the number of schemes against the manufacturer's information.
The Fiat G.50 Freccia, the Arrow, was one of the first Italian all-metal fighter monoplanes with retractable landing gear and an enclosed, later open, cabin. It was powered by a Fiat radial engine and armed with a pair of machine guns. It went into service as early as the Spanish Civil War and then in the early phases of the Second World War with the Regia Aeronautica on the Mediterranean, North African and other fronts. It was agile and reliable, although in armament and performance it lagged behind its later opponents.
With short-run kits, count on more careful cleaning up of the parts and on filling the seams with material where needed. Wash the mold release agent off the resin parts and cut the casting blocks off, and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Glue the injected parts with thin cement for plastic. Cut the vacuum-formed glazing out carefully and mask it while spraying. Apply a primer, the paints with an airbrush, put the decals on over a gloss varnish and pick the lines out with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
