This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian maker UM (Unimodels) captures the German Flammpanzer 38(t) flamethrower tank on the Hetzer chassis. The set usually holds photo-etched parts and plastic tracks built up by the link-and-length method.
The Flammpanzer 38(t) came about by converting the Hetzer tank destroyer, whose chassis was derived from the Czechoslovak LT vz. 38. In place of the anti-tank gun the vehicle carried a flamethrower disguised to look like a gun barrel. A small group of these vehicles was fielded at the end of 1944 in the Ardennes for close-quarters fighting against fortified targets and infantry.
Assemble the running gear before you close the hull, and give attention to the detail of the disguised flamethrower and to the fine photo-etch; glue it with cyanoacrylate glue and the plastic with liquid modeling cement. We recommend an airbrush over a primer, a winter camouflage and weathering with washes and pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
