The second sheet of the same series brings four more schemes of machines of the assault group of JG 3 in 1:72 scale. Besides aircraft in the R2 version there is also a machine with the R8 fit, that is with even more thorough armor, documented by its Werknummer. The markings tie to the airfields at Memmingen and Barth and to the year 1944.
In the summer of 1944 the assault group was led by an officer whose name appears with one of the schemes, and its employment over central Germany belongs among the best-known episodes of the defense of the Reich's airspace at that time. Around him flew young pilots who pledged to attack a bomber from the shortest possible distance. The selection of schemes therefore captures not only colors and numbers, but particular human fates as well.
Before transferring the motif, check its position against the panel lines from a photograph. Lay the decal on a moistened surface so that it can still be shifted, and draw the excess water off with a paper tissue from the center toward the edge. On larger areas a small pinprick with a needle helps, letting a trapped air bubble escape.
The package contains printed markings; the aircraft kit is a separate item.
