On one sheet the DN Models brand has gathered stencils of Allied stars and medical crosses in several sizes, so as to cover the usual needs of a builder of armored and unarmored equipment alike in 1:48. It is an insignia set, not camouflage, and the way of working matches that.
The white five-pointed star was the recognition marking of Allied vehicles in the Second World War and was sprayed through a stencil right in the field, often carelessly and with visible overruns. The red cross on a white field, by contrast, marked ambulance and medical vehicles protected by international law. That is exactly why both were applied with a stencil rather than a decal, and a mask leads to a far more faithful result than a glossy carrier film.
Apply in several very thin layers, so that no palpable ridge arises at the edge. Under the red it pays to lay white first, as otherwise the shade will go gray. Take the stencil off shortly after spraying, and you can then disturb the edge slightly with a sanding sponge, so that the marking comes across as worn. The cutouts can be used again on other vehicles with gentle handling.
