An injection-molded plastic kit of the French Fouga CM.175 Zéphyr jet trainer in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Special Hobby. The package holds gray plastic sprues, a clear part, a decal sheet and instructions. The Zéphyr was the carrier derivative of the well known Magister trainer, and the model carries the markings of French naval aviation.
The CM.175 Zéphyr was the naval version of the two-seat Fouga Magister trainer with its characteristic butterfly tail surfaces. Unlike the Magister it was adapted for operation from aircraft carriers: it received an arrestor hook and strengthened landing gear. The French Navy used it to train pilots for carrier aviation.
A short-run mold calls for cleaning the parts up and dry fitting them. Use thin cement on the plastic and finish the two-seat cockpit before you close the fuselage. A gloss varnish before the decals is advisable, as are an airbrush for the striking naval schemes and masking of the glazing.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
