1:72 Fw 189C/V-6, a Peewit masking set for a model of the armored attack variant of the twin-boom Focke-Wulf.
Responsibility details are not available.
A covering set for a model of the German twin-boom aircraft in the variant designated C, or rather for the sixth prototype of the line. The scale is 1:72 and the goods fall among accessories for painting; the package contains neither a kit nor its parts.
The Fw 189 became famous as a reconnaissance machine with two tail booms and a glazed nacelle in the middle, from which the crew had a view in practically every direction. The C variant went the opposite way: the extensive glazing was replaced by a small, heavily armored cockpit for two men, meant for attacks on ground targets from low altitude. The view was thereby limited to a few small windows and vision ports. For a modeler that means an entirely different task; there are few glazed areas, but they are small and crowded close together, so tracing them with a brush goes miserably. This shape did not reach production and it remained with test machines.
Seat the small windows with a dampened toothpick and press the edges down with a blunt tip. Spray the paint thinned and in several passes, as a thick layer would create a noticeable step on small areas. Lift the mask off soon after drying. With an armored cockpit it is moreover good to spray the interior shade first, because through the small vision ports only a fragment of the compartment is visible and a light area inside would spoil the result. The surrounding armor will take somewhat more pronounced shading than the smooth surfaces of the airframe.
