Omask 1:72 Fw 190 D-9 - masks for crosses are cut self-adhesive stencils with which the national markings of the late Dora are made by spraying paint straight onto the model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a masking aid for 1:72 scale, not an aircraft model. The stencils are stuck onto the finished paint and the national markings are then sprayed, so that the marking lies in the same plane as the surrounding camouflage. The set belongs among accessories for aircraft and assumes that you already have the model ready for finishing.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9 was the so-called long-nosed version with the Junkers Jumo 213 inverted V12 engine. It is told from the radial-engined versions by its extended forward section and longer fuselage, and it went into service in the last year of the war, when it was to give the fighters back their performance at high altitude. It was exactly in that period that German crosses were painted in very simplified forms, so the choice of the shape of the marking is one of the more interesting decisions when building a Dora.
The base must be smooth and thoroughly dry. Transfer the stencil into place, press it down all around its edge and spray several thin coats, so that the paint does not creep under the edge. Lift the mask off while the paint is still only touch-dry - the edge then stays sharp. The result has no glossy frame of carrier film, it does not lift once dry and it will take even heavy sanding and scuffing of the surface.
Paints, varnish and the model itself are not included in the package.
