A set of pre-cut masks, 1:72 G3M Nell - national insignia and unit markings, from Dead Design for spraying the markings instead of using decals. Target kit: Hasegawa.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit but an accessory for a finished model. The set contains pre-cut self-adhesive masks of the Japanese national insignia and, in addition, masks of the unit markings, that is the codes on the tail surfaces. The Mitsubishi G3M, listed by the Allies as Nell, was a twin-engine land-based naval bomber with great range, deployed in China and in the first months of the war in the Pacific. The set is intended for the Hasegawa kit.
Why masking pays off twice over on a large model
A twin-engine bomber has extensive areas and tall tail fins, which take large insignia and tall codes. It is precisely large decals that silver the most, because the carrier film covers a large area and has to get over engraving and panel transitions. Sprayed markings do not have that problem and a matte surface stays matte with no gloss varnish and no softener.
Let the coat cure thoroughly. Place the masks according to the color scheme drawing, press the edges down around the perimeter and smooth the transition with a toothpick. With the codes on the fin, help yourself with a light guide line of masking tape, so that the letters keep to a row. Spray the paint in several thin coats perpendicular to the edge of the mask and lift the mask off while the paint is fresh.
