An accessory in 1:72 scale rendering the Skybolt air-launched ballistic missile, listed under its original designation GAM-87A.
Responsibility details are not available.
Skybolt came about as a ballistic missile for strategic bombers. The aircraft carried it on a pylon, dropped it at altitude, and the rocket motor ignited only after separation, so the carrier did not have to get any closer to the target than necessary. The weapon first received the designation GAM-87 and then, after the designation systems were unified, AGM-48. Development was halted at the start of the 1960s and Skybolt remains one of the best-known unfinished weapons of the Cold War.
The set renders the missile itself in 1:72 scale and is intended for building a carrier model in the variant with this armament. The range of parts and the method of attachment are given in the manufacturer's instructions; compare them with the documentation for your own kit.
The parts are not polystyrene and you join them with super glue. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand off the rest, checking the slender body against the light as you go so that it stays straight. Wash and degrease before painting. Check the color scheme against period photographs of the test examples, because test machines often differ from later ideas.
The aircraft model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
