1:72 German Sturmpioniere 39-42

German Sturmpioniere 1939-1942 (1:72, Zvezda)

A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale from Zvezda, from the Art of Tactic game line. It represents German assault engineers (Sturmpioniere) of the early Second World War. The box contains 4 figures with engineer kit and diorama accessories such as a barbed wire entanglement, sandbags and anti-tank obstacles. The parts join with lugs (snap-fit), with no need for glue.

The real subject

The Sturmpioniere were specialized engineers intended for breaking through fortifications, clearing obstacles and close-quarters fighting. They were equipped with demolition charges, flamethrowers and engineer tools. They were committed at the head of assault formations when overcoming trenches and bunkers.

Building and painting tips

Separate the parts from the sprue carefully; to get a firm joint the lugs can still be secured with a drop of glue. We recommend a base coat of primer, field gray (feldgrau) as the base and shading with a wash. The engineer kit and the accessories come out best with a dry brush.
