Stencils for the cockpit glazing of a model of the Grumman A-6E Intruder in 1:72 scale. Shaped to the parts of the kit from Hasegawa.
Responsibility details are not available.
The glazing of the Intruder is unusually extensive and slopes down at the sides so that the crew can see the deck when landing. The frames therefore run in three different planes and outlining them by hand practically always goes astray somewhere. This variant of the sheet is cut for the kit from the Hasegawa manufacturer, because a set with the same description exists for another kit as well and the shapes are not interchangeable between them.
The Grumman A-6 came about as a carrier bomber able to hit a target at night and in dense cloud, that is at a time when the other machines stayed on the deck. The crew consisted of a pilot and a navigator sitting side by side, with the navigator's seat set slightly lower and further back. The heart of the aircraft was a navigation and attack system that could guide the machine onto a target by the radar image of the terrain. The squat shape with short wings and a round nose earned it a reputation as an ugly but exceptionally useful aircraft.
Work from the middle part of the glazing toward the sides and keep watching whether the side shape fits in the sloping area as well. Lay the interior shade on before setting the part into the fuselage, otherwise you will no longer reach it. Excess paint at the edge of a frame is better prevented with a thin spraying than removed later.
