A photo-etched set in 1:72 scale for a model of the American Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat carrier fighter. The metal parts refine details that injection-molded plastic renders too coarsely.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman F4F Wildcat was the main carrier fighter of the US Navy in the first years of the war in the Pacific. It looked stubby and lost out in agility against its Japanese opponents, but it made up for that with a strong structure, armor and heavy firepower. The F4F-4 version was given folding wings so that more machines would fit on a deck, and its armament was increased to six machine guns. Pilots received that change with mixed feelings: the firepower grew, but the ammunition supply per barrel fell.
A set of photo-etched metal parts for a model in 1:72 scale. Sheet metal makes it possible to produce belts, frames, grilles and other small items at a thickness an injection mold cannot reach. The extent of the set and the kit it is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
In 1:72 scale the photo-etched parts are genuinely small, so have a sharp blade, a hard surface and tweezers with fine tips ready and work over a tray with a raised edge. Cut the parts off rather than breaking them out. Make the folds in a bending tool or over the jaws of flat tweezers. Apply cyanoacrylate glue in a tiny amount, ideally on the tip of a wire or a needle from a drop set aside on a tile; a drop from the bottle is too large at this scale and floods the detail. Degrease the sheet before painting and use a primer for metal.
Paints, glue and modeling tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
