It is a short-run kit, that is a kit from short-run tooling intended rather for more experienced modelers. The box allows either the single-seat F7F-2 version or the two-seat F7F-2N night fighter version to be built, and it contains clear cockpit parts and a decal sheet with several finishes; the cockpit seat belts are provided as a decal. The F7F Tigercat was an American twin-engine carrier fighter developed at the close of the Second World War. Thanks to its pair of radial engines it was one of the fastest and most heavily armed piston fighters of the US Navy and the Marine Corps. The F7F-2N version was the two-seat night fighter conversion with a radar and a second crew member. The aircraft took practically no part in the fighting of the Second World War, but it made its mark in the postwar period and in the Korean War.
As with any short-run kit, expect careful cleaning up of the parts, removal of any flash and dry-fitting before gluing, because the fit tends to be more demanding than on mass-production tooling. Glue the plastic with modeling cement and the fine, small parts preferably with cyanoacrylate glue. Lay down a primer before painting, spray with an airbrush in thin coats and bring out the panels with a fine wash. Decide in advance which version (F7F-2 or F7F-2N) you are building, so that you use the right parts.
