A set of precisely die-cut self-adhesive painting masks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the American Sikorsky H-34 helicopter in 1:72 scale. This is not a kit and not a model — it is an accessory that makes it easy to cleanly paint the framing of the glazing and the other small areas. The masks stick straight onto the parts, so the glazing frames get sharp, straight edges without laboriously cutting masking tape. Sets of this type usually also include circular masks for the wheel rims, for a clean separation of the tire from the rim.
The Sikorsky H-34 (also known as the S-58) was an American general-purpose helicopter of the 1950s with a radial piston engine housed in the nose. It was used for transport, assault landings and rescue duties as well as against submarines, and it was operated by a number of countries around the world. It was notable for its tall cabin and the characteristic shape of its fuselage.
Carefully lift the mask off the backing sheet with tweezers or a knife tip and lay it on a dry, degreased glazing surface. Press the edges down firmly so that no paint creeps underneath. Apply the paint in thin coats, ideally with an airbrush, and pull the mask off before the coat dries completely. On strongly curved shapes it helps to seal the edge with masking fluid.
This is a set of painting masks, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included.
