The set contains a vacuum-formed (vacuform) clear cockpit canopy in 1:72 scale for a model of the Ilyushin Il-2m3 Shturmovik. It is not an aircraft kit but a separate accessory. Thin walls and crystal-clear material replace the thicker part from the box and open up the view into the cockpit and into the rear gunner's position. The parts are usually divided so that the cockpit can be displayed open.
The designation Il-2m3 corresponds to the late two-seat version of the famous Soviet ground-attack aircraft of the Second World War, with a station for a rear gunner providing defensive fire. The armored fuselage protected both the crew and the powerplant, and the machine became one of the symbols of the Eastern Front. The glazing of the two-seat version differs in shape from the single-seat machines.
Cut the canopy out with a small margin, sand the edge on fine abrasive paper until it seats exactly and glue it with canopy glue or a minimum of cyanoacrylate. Mask the frames before spraying and handle the thin part with care so that it keeps its shape.
This is a modeling accessory, not a kit. Glue, paints and masks are not included in the package.
