The 1:72 Kamov Ka-29 Helix-B painting mask set from Clear Prop Models contains pre-cut templates for masking the glazing of the helicopter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The item is a set of pre-cut masking templates for a model of the Kamov Ka-29 naval helicopter in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit of the machine but an aid that speeds up and sharpens the part of the work where an otherwise successful model is most often spoiled: covering the glazed cockpit before spraying.
The Ka-29 is the armed transport offshoot of the Kamov family, with its characteristic pair of contra-rotating rotors one above the other, thanks to which the machine needs no tail rotor. It was created to support amphibious landing operations from the decks of ships, so it received a wider forward section with glazing for two and the ability to carry armament on side pylons. In the NATO reporting-name system it carries the name Helix-B.
First clear the glazing of fingerprints, lay the template on dry and check how it sits, and only then press the edges down. It is a good idea to spray the cockpit first in the interior shade and only after that in the outer finish – the frame then looks right from both sides. Make the coats thin; heavy paint builds up at the edge and when the mask is taken off it flakes away along with the rim.
The kit of the helicopter is not in the package; the set serves purely as an accessory for painting.
