This is an accessory photo-etched set from the Czech maker Brengun intended for completing a plastic kit of the Japanese Kawasaki Ki-61-I Hien fighter in 1:72 scale that you have already bought. The set is cut for one particular kit, the Tamiya one, so the parts fit without any shapes having to be invented. The package holds photo-etched sheets; the model itself, glue and paints are not part of it.
A landing flap is in reality a thin-walled structure of ribs and skin. An injected plastic part can never render it at a matching thickness: at the edge there is always material a few tenths of a millimeter thicker than the scale allows. Photo-etched metal is under two tenths of a millimeter thick and makes it possible to show the flap even in the lowered position, where its inner side and the cutout in the wing are visible. Lowered flaps are exactly the detail everyone notices on a finished model.
Cut the parts out with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with nippers. Before bending it pays to anneal the photo-etched metal briefly over a flame and let it cool: the metal softens and the edges then do not crack. Bend in a bending tool or between two razor blades so that the edge comes out sharp along its whole length. Degrease the metal with alcohol before gluing, apply a primer and bond with super glue, which takes to metal better than modeling cement for plastic. The original flap has to be cut out of the wing of the kit and the opening cleaned up.
This is an accessory set, not a kit. The model, glue, paints and any other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
