This is not an aircraft kit but a set of seat belts for the cockpit of an L-410 UVP model in 1:72 scale. It comes from the Simply line of the Czech manufacturer HGW and consists of printed belts transferred with water, with no carrier film — wet transfer technology. You have to have the aircraft model, it is not in the package.
The most widespread alternative is etched metal belts. Those have their drawbacks, though: they are flat, stiff and in a small scale they read more like a strip of sheet metal than like a webbing strap. The HGW set goes another way — the belt is printed in a matching thickness and color and transfers straight onto the seat with no glossy edge of carrier film, which usually gives ordinary decals away. The result blends with the surface of the seat, and even in 1:72, where the cockpit is tiny, it finally looks like a fabric strap.
The L-410 Turbolet is a Czechoslovak twin-engine turboprop light transport aircraft — and one of the most successful aircraft ever built there. It still flies all over the world, because it copes with short and unpaved strips where a more modern machine would have no chance. The UVP version is stretched and adapted for operation in demanding conditions. For a Czech modeler it is a home-grown machine — and few details are as satisfying as a properly done cockpit of an aircraft you know from home.
Cut the belt out, soak it in water for roughly a minute, lift it off the paper backing with sharp tweezers and transfer it onto the seat. The base should be smooth, ideally glossy — on rough flat paint the transfer settles less well. Fix it with a decal softener and finally spray a matte clear coat so the belt blends perfectly with the seat. Work calmly and with good light, the parts really are tiny in 1:72.
The set is an accessory for a kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package. The manufacturer does not tie the set to a particular kit — please check compatibility with your own model.
