The clear replacement cockpit canopy Rob Taurus 1:72 La-7 is meant for modelers who want to finish the Soviet fighter with a flawless transparent part.
Responsibility details are not available.
Rob Taurus specializes in transparent cockpit glazing for aircraft models under construction. This part belongs to the Soviet La-7 fighter and replaces the transparent section that is the most visible of all on a finished model. It is reached for by those whose original piece was damaged or lost, and by modelers who want the cockpit to be better seen.
The La-7 was the culmination of designer Lavochkin's line of wood-and-metal fighters and entered combat over the Eastern Front in 1944. Compared with the preceding La-5FN it was given a lightened structure with metal wing spars, the oil cooler moved under the rear fuselage and the air intakes shifted into the wing roots. The powerplant remained a Shvetsov radial engine of around 1850 hp. The rear fuselage decking was cut down and glazed, so that the pilot could see behind him as well. Ivan Kozhedub, the most successful Allied fighter pilot of the Second World War, flew this type.
Dry-fit the canopy before painting and take up any gaps by carefully sanding the edges. Neither thin plastic cement nor cyanoacrylate suits clear surfaces, because both will fog them; reach for a glue that dries clear. Mask the frames with narrow strips of tape and spray them only once the fuselage camouflage is finished.
This is a separate replacement part; the aircraft itself is bought separately.
