F-35B Lightning ejection seat 1:72 is a three-dimensionally printed accessory for the cockpit that will replace the simplified plastic part of the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The designation PRINT in the name says that the part arises by three-dimensional printing. Even in a small scale this technology can hold the edges, stiffeners and divisions that molded plastic wipes away. The seat is fitted into the cockpit in place of the original part and is visible everywhere the model has its canopy swung open. In the package is the seat alone, not the cockpit and not the aircraft.
The cockpit of a fifth-generation machine is markedly cleaner than on older types. A large touchscreen has taken over most of the controls, so a look into the cockpit is drawn mainly to the seat with its straps, handles and side covers. The F-35B moreover works with a different flight mode during a vertical landing, which makes the cockpit one of the most interesting details of the whole model.
Printed parts tend to be held on thin supports; cut those off with a sharp knife and sand the surface only lightly, so that the texture of the surface is not wiped away. The material is more brittle than plastic, so work with it calmly and without needless pressure, or the thin parts risk cracking. The base is formed by a dark shade applied with an airbrush in a really thin layer, so that the fine edges are not flooded. It is a good idea to set the straps apart with a lighter color and then to unify the whole with a fine wash into the recesses.
