A set of self-adhesive masking templates made of kabuki paper (Japanese washi tape) for models of the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird in 1:72 scale. The BASIC level covers the basic needs when spraying: framing the cockpit glazing and masking the wheels. This is not a kit and not a set of model parts, but an aid for accurate, clean painting. The set is designed around the Italeri kit.

The real subject

The SR-71 Blackbird was an American two-seat strategic reconnaissance aircraft with two engines, capable of sustained flight at more than three times the speed of sound at high altitude. It was in service from the 1960s to the late 1990s and remains one of the fastest piloted aircraft to this day.

Use

• Stick the masks onto cleaned and degreased glazing, press the edges down and spray the frames.
• Kabuki tape follows curved transitions well, holds a sharp edge and leaves no adhesive behind when removed.
• The remaining areas of the glazing can be covered with liquid mask or with tape from the sheet.
• Suitable for an airbrush and for a spray can; remove the mask while the paint is still fresh.
