This precisely turned metal pitot tube from the Polish brand MASTER replaces the coarser and easily damaged plastic part on a model of the Lockheed SR-71A Blackbird reconnaissance aircraft in 1:72 scale. The metal probe is faithfully shaped, mechanically tough and gives the tip of the fuselage the crisp, realistic look that a plastic part cannot manage. It is not an aircraft model: it is a small but telling detail accessory.
The pitot tube is among the most conspicuous and at the same time most fragile features on the nose. A metal replacement is stronger, survives handling of the model and looks more convincing than a thicker plastic equivalent. A small additional part for easy and accurate fitting is usually included.
Drill a hole of the matching diameter where the original plastic part sat, slide the probe in and fix it with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Take care over the correct angle and alignment with the axis of the fuselage. Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a primer for better adhesion.
This is a metal detail accessory, not an aircraft model. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
