A complete resin kit of the French Loire 210 floatplane fighter in the form of the prototype. The Hungarian maker SBS Model has worked this rare naval type into fine resin castings; the kit is intended for experienced modelers.
The Loire 210 came about in the mid-1930s as a single-seat floatplane fighter intended for catapult launch from the decks of French battleships and cruisers. The low-wing monoplane with a central float and auxiliary floats under the wing was powered by a Hispano-Suiza radial engine. The prototype flew in 1935; series production was very small indeed and the service of the type ended soon after it began, when structural problems with the wing appeared on the machines. The Loire 210 thus remained above all an interesting episode of French naval aviation - and for that very reason a rewarding, unconventional subject for collectors.
Wash the resin parts, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection; glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Pay particular attention to seating the central float and the struts - a dry check of the geometry before gluing pays off. The model looks superb on a mirrored water base or on a catapult trolley in the form of a small naval vignette.
The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted, cast in resin. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
