A kit of the M706 Commando wheeled armored car in the form in which it served in Vietnam, in 1:72 scale. Trumpeter offers this type in the small scale in several configurations, so its later versions can be built as well. The contents of the package and the number of parts are not stated here.
M706 is the military designation of the Cadillac Gage V-100 Commando wheeled armored vehicle. It is a four-wheel machine with all-wheel drive, an amphibious hull and low weight, designed for patrol and escort duty rather than for fighting armor. In Vietnam it proved itself above all in protecting convoys and installations, where its road speed and its resistance to small-arms fire were valued. The vehicle carried a small rotating turret with machine gun armament and the crew was completed by gunners at the side ports. The hull with its distinctive angled plates makes the model a rewarding subject even in a small scale.
Finish the hull and the turret first as two assemblies, which then makes painting easier. Fit the wheels only after the base shade has been sprayed, as the tires are easier to brush separately. The engraving is fine in this scale, so thin the paint and apply it thinly. Dust on the lower part of the hull and on the wheels will do the model more good than heavy mud weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
