This product is not a kit of the vehicle but a resin accessory to a model that already exists. It replaces the open cargo bed of the M977 vehicle with a covered form and so changes the whole silhouette of the finished piece. The casting is in modeling resin, is supplied in a raw state and unpainted, and is meant to be joined to a base plastic model. Black Dog is a Czech maker who specializes in exactly this: resin accessories, cargo and gear for military equipment.
The M977 is the cargo version of the HEMTT family, that is of the heavy tactical trucks of the US Army with 8x8 drive. Vehicles of this range supply combat units with fuel, ammunition and materiel across ground that an ordinary truck cannot pass. In the field the cargo bed tends to be covered by a canvas stretched over a tubular frame, which protects the load from the weather and at the same time makes it harder to guess what the vehicle is carrying. It is precisely such a cover that this accessory represents.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap — you will remove the residue of the mold release agent, on which paint does not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, and never break them off. It is advisable to sand wet and with respiratory protection. Glue resin with superglue; ordinary cement for plastic models has no effect on it. Apply a primer before painting. A canvas looks convincing with a matte surface, a slightly lighter cast on the raised parts of the folds and a darker tone in their depth; dusting with pigments at the lower edge will give the vehicle a field look.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
