1:72 Martin B-57 B/G Canberra - landing gear bay masking for the American version of this jet bomber in the B and G variants.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set for masking the landing gear bays of the Martin B-57 bomber in the B and G variants. It is used at the moment when the inner surfaces get a different shade from the upper and lower sides of the airframe and the transition between them is to be straight.
The B-57 is the licensed form of the British English Electric Canberra and at the same time the only bomber of foreign design that the US Air Force put into production service in the postwar era. The American rework differs from the original machine mainly in the cockpit: the crew sat in tandem under an elongated fighter-style canopy. The B variant got a rotary bomb bay, which allowed bombs to be dropped in a straight pass over the target. The later G was created for night interdiction and carried search and sighting equipment for work after dark.
On twin-engine machines the landing gear bays tend to be deep, so it is better to apply the paint in two thin coats than in one heavy one. Before spraying, check that the mask sits down all the way around; a small gap shows up at once in a matte coat. Leave the uncovering until the end, after the clear coat and after the details have been picked out.
