The top level of the mask set for a model of the two-seat Su-27UB in 1:72 scale. EXPERT describes the scope of the package, not how demanding the work is: the set holds more pre-cut self-adhesive templates than the basic BASIC level and covers a larger part of the model. The shapes are tailored to one specific kit, the Zvezda 7294. It is an accessory used during painting, not a kit.
It pays off the moment you want to see the model through and do not want to cut the small shapes yourself. In 1:72 scale preparing small masks by hand is a thankless job: the scalpel slips on the film, the shape does not come out symmetrical and the mistake shows on the finished model. Pre-cut offcuts remove that step entirely and at the same time guarantee that the same shape will come out the same on the next model you build a year from now.
The timing of removal is crucial. Do not leave a mask on the model longer than necessary; after a longer time, and above all in the warm, the adhesive holds more firmly and there is a risk that fresh paint will come away with the film. Ideally take it off shortly after the last coat has dried, slowly and folding it back over itself. If a mask does hold on, warming it briefly with warm air helps. Leave the offcuts you do not use on the carrier sheet and store it flat, out of direct light.
The package holds only the masking templates. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
