Responsibility details are not available.
A pair of French guided missiles for completing the armament of a Cold War model. In shape it is an unmistakable store with a bulky body and large cruciform surfaces of a kind you will not find on modern machines.
The French Air Force introduced the R-530 in the 1960s as its first home-grown weapon for medium-range combat. What made it interesting above all was that it came with two interchangeable seeker heads: one radar, the other infrared. A unit chose which one to fit according to the task, and the body stayed the same. It was carried by Mirage III machines, where a single one hung under the fuselage, and further by carrier aircraft of the French Navy. The missile was widely exported and saw combat in the Middle East and elsewhere; it was replaced only by the more capable Super 530 series.
The cruciform surfaces dominate here and every irregularity shows. Sand their leading edges sharp and check that all four sit at the same angle. A light body is the rule on this missile, so do not skimp on a good base: white or a very light gray goes on badly without an even base coat and shows through. The nose of the seeker differs in shape between the two versions, so decide which one you are building before gluing.
The armament is bought to go with a model of an aircraft that carried it. Get paints and glue beforehand.
