The photo-etched set 1:72 McDonnell F-4J Phantom from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. The metal accessory parts refine the detail of a model of the naval version of the Phantom.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an aircraft kit, but an accessory set of photo-etched metal parts. The basic model in 1:72 scale has to be obtained separately. Photo-etched parts arise by chemically etching thin sheet, so they have a thickness and a sharpness of edge that injection-molded plastic cannot reach - and it is precisely in the small scale that this difference shows the most.
The smaller scale tempts one to think that the details are not visible. The opposite is true: plastic parts in 1:72 are the coarsest of all in proportion to the model, because the technology has its minimum thicknesses regardless of the size of the model. Etched metal therefore shifts the result most markedly in this scale, whether it is the equipment of the cockpit, grilles, flaps or small external elements. The exact composition of the set and the number of parts are not stated here; you will find the overview in the instructions enclosed with the set. Check as well that the set matches your kit, because photo-etched sets are cut for a particular model.
The parts in this scale are really tiny - work over a light surface so that they do not disappear on you. Separate them with a scalpel on a hard base, never by breaking them off. Bend them in a bending tool or between two razor blades. Dose the glue with a toothpick in minute drops; an excess of cyanoacrylate glue dulls the surrounding surface and clouds the glazing. Degrease the metal before painting and prime it. Install and paint the elements going into the cockpit before you glue the fuselage together.
This is an accessory set, not a kit. The basic model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
