A complete resin kit of the British Miles M.2H Hawk Major sporting low-wing monoplane in a lesser known role - as a machine used during the Spanish Civil War. The fine resin castings from the Hungarian maker SBS Model are intended for experienced modelers.
The Miles M.2H Hawk Major was a light two-seat sporting and touring low-wing monoplane of wooden construction from the mid-1930s, powered by an inverted inline de Havilland Gipsy Major engine. In Britain the type made its name in flying clubs and air races. Several machines reached Spain in the second half of the 1930s, where during the Civil War they were used mainly for liaison, courier and auxiliary duties. It is exactly this historically interesting service, far from the aircraft's civil origins, that the kit captures.
Wash the resin parts to remove the mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand with respiratory protection; use super glue (cyanoacrylate) for gluing. A smooth, discreetly glossy surface recalls the wooden construction of the real aircraft; on wartime machines light weathering is in order - a dusty undercarriage and traces of use around the cockpit. The small size of the model tempts you to hurry, but careful alignment pays off.
The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted, cast in resin. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
