1:72 Mirage 2000 – the exhaust nozzle in the closed position is a small resin accessory which replaces the nozzle from a kit with a more faithful casting. The closed position answers to a machine parked on the ground. Meant for the Revell, Italeri or Heller kits.

This is not a kit of an aircraft but an accessory to a model of the French Mirage 2000 fighter in 1:72 scale that you have already bought. It replaces the exhaust nozzle of the engine, that is one of the places where a plastic part from a kit most often shows itself as too coarse or thick-walled. The casting has fine, thin edges and a legible inner structure, which an injection mold in this scale usually cannot capture. The target kits are Revell, Italeri or Heller.
Open, or closed? This item is the version with the nozzle closed. An identically named accessory with the nozzle in the open position is made as well. The difference lies purely in how you want to present a model: closed nozzle petals answer to a machine with the engine shut down or idling, that is typically to an aircraft standing on the flight line. An open nozzle fits a model in flight or with the afterburner lit. Choose according to the scene you intend, because a later change already means interfering with a finished tail.
Before gluing, wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with detergent to rid them of remains of release agent from the mold – without that the paint holds badly. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a cutting disc, and never snap it off. It is bonded with super glue; resin does not answer to cement for plastic. When sanding, use a respirator and sand wet. The inside of the nozzle looks best with metallic shades and a fine darkening toward the edge, and the outer surface will take light heat staining.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. The Revell, Italeri or Heller base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
