The masking templates 1:72 Mitsubishi Ka-14 are for spraying the glazing of the prototype from which the Japanese A5M carrier fighter grew, in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Ka-14 was a Mitsubishi development machine that in the middle of the 1930s answered a requirement of the Imperial Japanese Navy for a modern fighter. It had a clean all-metal airframe, fixed landing gear in aerodynamic fairings and a characteristic inverted gull wing, which was later straightened on the production version. It was from the Ka-14 that the A5M fighter arose, so this is a subject you do not come across every day.
The cockpit was open, so the glazing is limited to the windscreen and any small transparencies. That does not mean it can be skimped, however. The windscreen of the prototype has its own shape, different from the later production machines, and in 1:72 scale it is small enough that a measured strip of tape will inevitably pucker on the curve. The template follows the outline of this particular part, so the border comes out thin and even and the clear area stays free of smears from a knife.
For collectors of less usual Japanese subjects and for anyone building the development line leading to the A5M. You will not find a Ka-14 model in the package, as the kit is bought separately and this set serves to paint it.
