Photo-etched parts in 1:72 scale for a model of the Japanese Mitsubishi Ki-21-Ib bomber with the Allied code name Sally. The extent of the set is stated in the manufacturer's instructions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mitsubishi Ki-21 was a twin-engine bomber of the Japanese Army Air Force, listed by Allied observers under the code name Sally. It stayed in service throughout the war in the Pacific, even though enemy fighters soon overtook it in performance; later the aircraft of this type were given transport and training duties instead. The Ki-21-Ib configuration belongs to the early series and differs from the later machines in details of armament and glazing.
Photo-etch solves what injection-molded plastic cannot: thinness. Parts in thin sheet metal have the right thickness in scale where a plastic part would look coarse, and they carry fine detail that shows on the model even under paint. Which particular parts of the aircraft this set covers, and which kit it is cut for, should be checked in the instructions enclosed with the set before you cut anything off the model.
Cut the parts off the carrier sheet with a sharp blade on a hard surface rather than with pliers, and level the remaining tab with a fine file. Make the bends over a straight edge or in a bender, so that they are crisp and in one plane. Photo-etch is not polystyrene, so modeling cement for plastic has no effect on it: it is bonded with super glue, and on larger areas with epoxy. Wash and degrease the metal before painting and start with a base coat, otherwise the paint will not hold on the metal.
A photo-etched set is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
