1:72 MK-82 with thermal protection and MAU-93 fin (6 pcs) brings six American aerial bombs of the five hundred pound weight class in the treatment with thermal protection and a conical fin unit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package adds American low-drag bombs of the five hundred pound weight class, and in a particular form: with a thermally protective layer on the body and with the conical MAU-93 tail unit. Six pieces are enough for a full load of external stores on one tactical aircraft in 1:72 scale or for filling multiple ejector racks.
The Mk 82 belongs to the Mk 80 family, which the US Air Force and Navy introduced in the nineteen-fifties and use to this day; its body became the basis for later guidance kits as well. The thermally protective layer came about as an answer to fires on deck: a coarse ablative coating delays the heating of the explosive and gives the crew time to act. On a model it is recognized precisely by its strikingly rough surface. The conical MAU-93 tail unit, by contrast, serves ordinary release from altitude, unlike the retarding surfaces meant for attack from low level.
The rough texture of the coating needs a different approach from the smooth body of an ordinary bomb. Apply thin coats, so that the texture is not flooded, and choose a matte shade; gloss would optically swallow the roughness. Set the colored bands at the nose off with narrow masking tape. The hanging comes out more precisely if you mark the axis on the rack beforehand and seat all six pieces in one plane.
The bombs are meant to fill out a finished kit; filler, glue and paints do not come with the package.
