The Mk.XVII depth charge 1:72 is a resin accessory from Brengun intended to be hung under models of patrol and anti-submarine aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The accessory in 1:72 scale captures the aerial depth charge designated Mk.XVII. It is not a model of an aircraft but armament in its own right, which you hang under the wing or in the bomb bay of a model. The manufacturer of the accessory is Brengun. The number of pieces in the package is stated on the box.
Depth charges were carried in the Second World War by aircraft intended to search for submarines and attack them. The weapon was dropped from low altitude and set to explode at a given depth, so it differed from a classic fragmentation bomb in both shape and the way it was carried. On a model it is an unmistakable recognition mark of a machine in the anti-submarine role — other armament would misrepresent the configuration.
Before building, wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry completely. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw, never snap them — resin cracks at a thin spot in a way you do not want. True the mating surface on abrasive paper on glass; work wet while sanding and protect your breathing. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). For painting, a primer and a matte covering shade are enough, and any identification bands should be done with masking tape once the base has dried completely.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
