Moscow noble cavalry of the 16th century, the Battle of Orsha, set 1 is a set of mounted Red Box figures in 1:72 scale intended for scenes on an open battlefield.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of unassembled figures in 1:72 scale. Unlike the siege subjects of the same line, the subtitle refers to an engagement in open ground, the Battle of Orsha of 1514, so the set suits an open scene with room for movement. The package is designated as set 1. The number of figures, the number of poses and the material are not stated.
The cavalry of the holders of service estates turned out with a horse and equipment of their own, which led to a disparate appearance of a unit. Typical for the start of the 16th century are mail or lamellar protection of the torso over a quilted kaftan, a cap or a helmet, and a combined armament with a bow and a melee weapon. In a field engagement the unit was deployed in a loose formation, not in a close array.
A scene in open ground lives by movement. Place the figures at irregular spacing and turn them in different directions; an even rank kills the impression of speed. We recommend undulating the base slightly; even a few millimeters of elevation create depth at 1:72 scale. Start the painting with the horses and let them rest overnight before you set the riders on, so that the paint is not rubbed off during handling. Suggest the dust raised by the hooves with a dry pigment applied only to the lowest centimeters of the legs and on the base along the axis of movement. Unify the finished scene with a matte varnish and fix the pigment on the base only after it.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
